Photo Hunters - Technology

This week, the Photo Hunters are looking for a picture of "technology."

Around our house we have computers and laptops, cell phones and gameboys. We have iPod shuffles and nanos, digital cameras and hard drives and digital camcorders. So it was a hard narrowing down my choice.

I settled on a couple of pictures of me mopping my floor.

The Hunt - Technology

This is our little iRobot called a Scooba
(I got it for Christmas - I call him "Scooby.")

I just fill him with water and soap,
hit the "clean" button,
and he sweeps, mops and dries the floor for me.

Technology can be a wonderful thing!

Check out the other Photo Hunters! Thanks to TNChick we're over 200 strong. There's always room for more!

I have never even heard of a such a thing. But, oh how I really really would love to have one.

Does he ever get lost or stuck? How does he know he cleaned it all?

I think I am envious of you and your scooby.

I've read about those before but haven't seen one in action - do they really work that well? Do they get all spots on the floor clean or do you have to sweep up spots behind it?

I've always wondered if this thing worked. Does it do a decent job. If so I know what I'm saving my moola for.

I only have Roomba Discovery, but love telling people I vacuumed when I was really blogging while Roomba took over for me. Can't believe I didn't think of taking a photo in motion. Clever you are.

My wife asked me to comment a bit on the scoobie for the questions many of you have asked.

It does work. My wife confirms this too. It uses infrared and special robotic intelligence to cover every inch of the room more than once. It has four distinct patterns it uses after it gauges the size and shape of the room. It's got a bumper (like the roomba) so that when it hits something it can either back up or turn and skirt along the edge. It sweeps lightly first, then resoaks, then scrubs, then dries. It's very cool.

It comes with a virtual wall, which is a little infra red laser light (just like in heist movies!) which the scoobie will not cross, so you can keep him in the right room. It has a senser for stairs, so it won't tumble down them. It has codes so if it does get stuck it gives you a digital number and you know exactly what's wrong with it. It rarely gets stuck though, only if it tries to mop up the cat or something (just kidding, it doesn't hurt when it runs into you or animals.). Never gets lost.

It has bit of difficulty with corners. It doesn't miss them completley but because it's round it does not do them as well as the rest. Other than that though it's really cool. Jetson's Rosie has arrived!

WOW you actually have one! I just heard today that you can get one "empty" and put in the hardware and software that you may want (probably for student projects). Jetson-time!

That's wonderful. Wish we have that over here. I'd be the first to buy.
BTW, we haven't chosen any nickname yet. Most of the suggestions were Nick or Nicky but I already have a nephew by that name. Oldoldlady of the Hills suggested Dom. Maybe we might settle for that but not sure yet. Thanks anyway for all your help and thanks for visiting.

I had no idea there was such a thing as your "Scooby" -- won't show it around my house because then I'd have no excuse for cleaning the kitchen floor.

What!?! You have got to be kiddin'!?! I have never heard of that! Now, I think I've seen everything. *hee, hee* I'll have to go Google it to read up on it. LOL

Wait, do those work? I've seen those sorts of do-dads before, and assume that since they keep selling that they have to work to some extent... but is it as awesome as it seems? I think I want one of the vacuum ones.
