Photo Hunters - Broken

This week's Photo Hunters theme is "broken." Back in November, I wrote this post about a not-so-simple fender-bender. I even used Pastormac's very festive cast as my Photo Hunters picture for the "red" theme back in December.

So while I was thinking about what to do for "broken" this picture jumped to mind.

The Hunt - Broken

"Ouch!"

Not just broken and askew,
there were also spiral fractures through each of the pieces.
Actually it wasn't as painful as it looks. It was a surprise that it was broken this badly. The thing that tipped us off that something was really broken was the fact that he couldn't touch his thumb and pinky to each other.

Hence the need for surgery to fix it. Steel plate, six screws & six weeks later, it looked like this....

Works just fine now.

I'm interested to see what other broken things are posted this week. TNChick has a pretty amazing picture of a crunched car. Lucky for her, she didn't end up as broken as her car!

Well, I have read three so far and I don't know how much "broken" one can take. :) Ouch, indeed... that looks horrible. One of the docs I worked with rode a scooter (a second childhood phase he should have bypassed), ran into a FedEx truck and ended up with a femur fractured in so many places, they called him Humpty Dumpty... stopped counting at 35 pieces. His thigh was a mesh cage with tiny pieces of bone wired in for a year.

Those are incredible pictures of your broken little pinky. Plates, pins, and screws are no fun. Hope it healed successfully without any lasting effects!

OMG! Both films look painful to me. Of course I am sitting here with a torn meniscus so maybe I am not a good judge right now!

Wow! Those are awesome pictures! I've never broken anything, so seeing an x-ray is still kind of nifty to me :)
And I love your design theme for your blog!

I remember when he broke his hand too, and the xray w/the steel plates and screws is a bit freaky!

When I went in to see the X-Ray, I said, "oh, wow, that's broken." Just call me Moto (Master of the obvious).

It has healed great. It hurts occasionally but not much and I am fully functional again!

Not fun and so many screws.

Oh my, I'm sorry about what happened. But I'm glad that the damage has been fixed. It's great how science can help heal us. Take care!

Well, even though it might have not hurt that much as you mentioned, it looks like it did. Great that you had those x-rays available for your hunt this week.
