Photo Hunters - Old-Fashioned

I love all the work that TN Chick puts into making the Saturday Photo Hunt such a great event. Photo Hunters were in search of something old-fashioned this week. I found this one to be tough and so I've been really impressed with the entries I've visited already.

I thought for a while about what to choose and settled on this photo of a photo from long long ago.

Photo Hunt -Old-Fashioned

What's old-fashioned about this photo, you ask? Well look at that poofy hair and the collar on that dress. And how about that skinny skinny tie? Honestly though, the reason I picked this photo is because these are my parents and this picture was taken nearly 40 years ago. My parents were about as old-fashioned as they come. (My dad still is; unfortunately my mom died in 2003.) When I got engaged, my mom didn't even think it was proper for Pastormac and me to sit on the same bed together. My dad still let's "ladies go first" and wears a coat and tie to work weekdays and a blazer to work on Saturday. Things like these and too many others to list make them my perfect choice for our "old-fashioned" theme this week.

If you're not rushing off to check out other Photo Hunters, PLEASE! PLEASE! leave a few of your "favorites" in a comment on my son Shorty's birthday post. He would really appreciate it. (So would I!) He just turned six on Thursday and he's pretty amazed that folks are leaving him comments. Also, we have really good news here.

Happy Hunting!

They look perfectly fine to me since I'm of that era too. Poofy hair, I wish I could still have it.
Congratulations on the good news about your little boy coming home soon.

Ladies first is still in fashion, lol but indeed not allowed to sit on the same bed is more then old fashioned. I had that hairdo too 40 years ago, but nobody could say of me that I was oldfashioned ! I even dared to live with Mr. Gattino one year in "sin" before we got married !

I think a lot of lessons could be learned from our so called "old fashioned" parents and grandparents. Mine are just like yours and I have nothing but the utmost respect for them- even though some of their styles were kind of funny...

Love it! I can almost smell the adorn hairspray and feel the starched stiffness of the dress and the petticoat and the stockings and the girdle! AACK! (Yes, back then, stockings came in 2 pieces and you had to have either a garter belt or a girdle to hold them up.) Blech!

Are they cute or what? Have a great weekend!

those old fashioned traits are admirable. in todays time it was already forgotten.

It's such a lovely picture. I'm sure you'll treasure it and preserve it for future genrations, who will no doubt think it's even more old fashioned :)

Yikes, I think we have the same parents! Isn't it curious how we all seem to have similar photos and remember our kids will be looking at our photos 40 years from now and laughing at how "old fashioned" we are today.

Nice photo. I may be a bit rough and ready in some ways but I do believe in common courtesy, including holding doors open. Have a happy weekend
