Licensed to Drive

This morning, my first-born, my 16 year old daughter Sweetanlo, passed her driving test and is now a licensed driver. It is a huge accomplishment for her.

I am both thrilled and terrified all at once.

The baby girl who ushered me into motherhood is, in just the blink of an eye, going to usher herself right out from under my roof and into the "real world." She's a young lady now and she's amazing.

I am both thrilled and terrified all at once.

Deep sigh.

The dicotomy of motherhood: preparing our children, pushing them out the door to experience all that life has to offer, and yet fearful of the life they might encounter...

I am both thrilled and terrified all at once.

NO WAY!!!

Mine oldest gets her license this coming week.

I. AM. FREAKING. OUT.

The thrilled + terrified thing? How are you getting past that? 'Cause over here, thrilled + terrified = me on serious pharmaceuticals very soon.
